We understand that successfully protecting your home
from pests requires a partnering effort — our EnviroPest
Solution and support from you.
Below are some ways you can help our partnership succeed.
Indoor Pest Prevention Tips.
- Keep foods such as cereal, flour, noodles, and pet food in tightly sealed containers.
- Keep living areas and kitchens clean and free of crumbs.
- Wipe countertops frequently to keep them free of sugars (soft drink spills, food particles, etc.).
- Sweep and vacuum floors often.
- Empty garbage containers frequently and keep full garbage bags on the exterior in closed containers picked up regularly by sanitation services.
- Seal any outside door entry points or cracks (areas where you see light, or where you can feel air penetrating).
- Keep air conditioning filters clean and thermostats properly adjusted to avoid mold and mildew that might attract pests.
- Limit access to water or moisture sources by sealing any cracks and leaks around pipes, faucets, toilets, tile, etc. (Many common pests need moisture to live and reproduce inside your home).
- Empty food or water containers regularly and do not leave them out overnight.
Outdooor Pest Prevention Tips.
- Caulk or seal cracks, crevices and other gaps around all windows (caulking
of all minor cracks and crevices along first floor windows is included
in Wayne’s EnviroPest service).
- Inspect all windows and doors that have screens and make sure that they are tightly installed along the frame, and repair any tears in screens.
- Check gutter drains/downspouts to ensure that all water is directed away
from your home’s foundation.
- Caulk or seal any gaps where utility wires or pipes enter your home.
- Clean gutters regularly (at least annually) to prevent pest harborage.
- Keep garbage containers clean and lids sealed.
- Keep garage doors closed and inspect weather stripping to ensure that it is effectively installed and not worn.
- Remove any piles of debris or firewood away from the structure, at least four feet off the ground.
- Divert your air conditioner drip line at least two feet away from your
home’s foundation.
- Inspect your irrigation system to ensure that puddling of water near the foundation does not occur (Note: If so, consult with an irrigation professional to correct the issue).
- Prune trees, shrubs and other vegetation so that they are not touching
your home — especially around windows and doors.
